This superb Brumm model of Earnest Eldridge’s 320 bhp Fiat started out as one of the SB4 Corsa grand prix cars of 1908 that was brought to Brooklands in England by Felice Nazzaro to compete in a match race against a British built Napier. Nazzaro achieved 119.9 mph. The car returned to Brooklands after WW1 and was bought by John Duff but he modified the engine which destroyed itself. It then reappeared owned now by Earnest Eldridge who had replaced the Fiat racing engine with a 21.7 litre Fiat A12 WW1 aeroplane engine which now gave him over 300 bhp. He lengthened the chassis in order to fit the engine and in July 1924 he took it to Arpajon in France where it set a new World Land Speed record at 146 mph.
