Carlo Chiti: Sinfonia ruggente.

Much has been written about key engineers in motor sport and this book, published in 1991 by Oscar Orefici . It is a fascinating book that is remarkably compassionate particularly when Chiti talks about Jean Behra’s temperamental break up with Ferrari and the tragedy that followed. There is a particularly interesting “family tree” drawn up by Chiti showing his working development with Ferrari from when he was brought into the Dino Grand Prix programme in 1957 following the death of Andrea Fraschetti -the development engineer and racing driver killed testing at Dino at Modena – to the end of the 1961 season and his subsequent firing by Ferrari. This book contains more information and background on all the cars in which he was involved, than most and I have always considered it a “Sleeper” The book is published with both Italian and English.
