Cavendish Morton Paintings

£220.00£240.00

These two framed seascape prints by Cavendish Morton and signed were given to the seller Graham Gauld by Cavendish as a gesture of friendship after I had written the book on John Tojeiro.

Cavvy, as he was called, was not only a seascape artist but had shown at the Royal Academy.

His secret passion was motor racing and it was he who made the original drawings for the Tojeiro-Climax Coupe that had been designed by John Tojeiro for Ecurie Ecosse . Morton also designed the bodywork for the Ecurie Ecosse Tojeiro-Jaguar that Jim Clark shared with Masten Gregory in the 1959 RAC Tourist Trophy Race at Goodwood. Gregory crashed the car which was later rebuilt and is occasionally seen in historic events.

The two paintings, named “Colonel Head” and “Evening” are local scenes created near his home in Benbridge on the Isle of Wight
