Concours of Elegance 2015

£25.00£35.00

This is the second hardcover booklet on the Concours d’Elegance held in Edinburgh at Holyrood House, the home of Queen Elizabeth 2 when she is in the Capital of Scotland.
As mentioned in the previous catalogue these are books for people who like and admire true classic cars and coachwork through the years along with a number of racing versions
The seller, Graham Gauld, was a consultant on this event and cars of Ecurie Ecosse were amongst those on show including the iconic Commer transporter.

Once again cars arrived from all over the world, many of them rarely seen from private collections and individuals. Amongst the interesting ones were a 1963 ATS 2500 GTS with Allemano coachwork. Only 12 chassis were produced and only 8 completed cars before the factory closed the following year. Then there was the stunning 1908 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost with Barker Roi des Belges coachwork

Photographed is the 1912 Lorraine Dietrich ” Vieux Charles II” once owned by Sir Malcolm Campbell. The car lapped Brooklands at 94 mph. The other car photographed was the unique 1959 Tojeiro-Jaguar racing car commissioned by Ecurie Ecosse and the only Ecurie Ecosse car raced by Jim Clark. It was joined by the 1956 ex-factory Long Nose D type Jaguar that finished second at Le Mans in 1957. Another one-off on show was a 1964 Ghia Spider G230S Prototype powered by a Chrysler V8 engine
This book of 172 pages covers photographs and background descriptions of all 60 cars that took part.
