Leggendarie Alfa Romeo

This superbly printed, b0xed coffee table book is one for anyone who likes Alfa Romeos but who do not want to go to the expense of flying to Milan and the Alfa Romeo Museum at Arese. Published by the late Giorgio Nada and written by Luciano Greggio it is a selection of 33 of the key Alfa Romeos in the Museum superbly photographed by Sandro Bacchi. Each of the models starting from the 24 hp model is given two or three pages of contemporary photographs and detailed colour photographs Here you have some of the classics such as the P2 or the P3 Monza or less familiar ones like the 6C 1500N and the 5C 1750 GTC. Then there are the unique ones such as the 1938 8C 2900 B Aerodinamica that raced just once at Le Mans and was leading by a country mile before a burst tyre put it out of the race, or the 1940 512 mid-engined 12 cylinder supercharged grand prix car that was designed by Wilfredo Ricart and Gioachino Colombo in preparation for the new 1500cc supercharged 4.5 litre unsupercharged Formula which was not introduced until after WW II. The car was actually tested in 1940 and completed in 1941. ( A second chassis was built and still exists in the Milan museum of Science and Technology. So the book goes on with all the classic Alfas leading up to the spectacular Alfa Tipo 33 TT12. At the end of the book, however, are ten pages of chassis numbers of most of the road cars as well as further pages of photographs and technical specifications of Alfa Romeos through the years.

The book is now quite rare and is published in Italian but is something special.
