For those interested in the small Italian marques Franco Varisco’s 80 page hard cover book on Nardi is very comprehensive for not only does he cover Enrico Nardi’s involvement with Enzo Ferrari’s first racing car, the 815 which used two Fiat 1100cc engines formed into a straight-8. Two of those Auto Avio Costruzioni cars were built for Count Lotario Macchiavelli and Alberto Ascari to race in 1940 and Enrico Nardi was the test driver for the car. There are details and photographs of Nardi’s ND racing sportscar powered by a BMW 750cc twin motor cycle engine, and other cars but his stillborn 1952 Lancia B20 rear engined Formula I car that was tested but never raced. He then created his thin and beautifully styled Nardi steering wheels which brought he back in contact with Enzo Ferrari Another quirky car book published in Italian and English.
