This soft cover book was produced in 1994 by John de Boer with input from some of the leading Italian historians and is a fascinating compilation of Italian car and racing car makes and models with considerable detail as to chassis and engine numbers as well as names of first owners. There are even sections on coachbuilders. For example one finds on page 322 a list of cars with chassis numbers with bodywork by Carozzeria Motto. Or if you look up the Neri-Bonacini coachbuilders in Modena you will find they put bodies on the unique Tec-Mec Formula 1 car, the TCA Formula Junior cars built for Wolfgang von Trips before he was killed and the PM Poggi another Formula Junior car built in Modena.

When it comes to racing cars all the leading Italian makes such as Ferrari, Maserati, OSCA, Stanguellini, etc etc.have models with chassis numbers and footnotes regarding owners, modifications etc. Don’t be put off by its publication date of 1994 it is a fascinating gold mine of information covering 352 pages.
