Back in 1958 Denis Jenkinson, the well known sports Editor of Motor Sport magazine, sat down and wrote this book about his life with cars and hints and tips on driving.
The title may be a trifle misleading because this book is one in which Jenks has sat down and gone through his racing life up to 1958 with a parade of stories that were new to the writer which give one of the most atmospheric descriptions of motor racing in the 1950s with fuel shortages, fragility of spare parts, grand prix and International sports car drivers sometimes having to live on their wits and the starting money.
A very good driver in his on right his views on coping with understeer and oversteer and other handling problems and how they were handled by the racing drivers he accompanied on races like the Mille Miglia are written not just with experience but with the ability to pass on that experience to anyone interested in reading about it. It is an original first edition with torn paper cover.
