Trintignant-Wimille Un champion et son maitre

Maurice Louche is well known in France and around the World as a historian but mainly for a wide range of books he has published on mainly French events and drivers.

Maurice has also one of the finest collections of motor sport photographs covering all the ages and so, despite the fact that the limited body text is in French you have an incredible photographic history of two of France’s great racing drivers. Maurice Trintignant and Jean-Pierre Wimille. In addition to a complete list of races and results for both drivers you have some wonderful atmospheric photographsof Trintignant at his very first race in Pau in 1938 at the age of 21 in a Bugatti right up to his final years in 1964 in action in the 1000 kms of Paris race sharing a 5 Litre Maserati coupe with Andre Simon. The second part of the book is on Wimille who was truly one of the great French racing drivers who, like Trintignant, started racing with a Bugatti but back in 1930 when he took part in the 1930 French Grand Prix for Formula Libre cars with a Bugatti 37A to his final race in Buenos Aires in the Argentine Grand Prix with a Simca-Gordini when he was killed.

Anyone interested in those periods or racing have literally hundreds of photographs beautifully printed in a book that give a wonderful description of racing in the dangerous years.
