This hard-cover book is in English and Italian and was written by Stefano Pasini. It was given to me by Giancarlo Minardi at the 2019 Minardi Day at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit at Imola.
It is the history of the remarkable life of Giancarlo Minardi, his cars and his Formula 1 racing team based in Faenza.
The first Minardi car was the GM75 which had a 750cc 6 Cylinder twin-cam built at the family’s Fiat dealership in 1948. It is described as being similar to half of a 12-cylinder Ferrari engine of the period. At that time Giancarlo Minardi was just one year old but his father’s enthusiasm was born into him. It was not until 1967 that he started racing a Fiat 500 and rallying a Fiat 124.
It is a fascinating story leading right up to the Formula 2 days that Minardi built and raced in the European Championship that eventually led to the Minardi Formula 1 car.
